We believe the news agenda should be shaped by the underrepresented voices of our community champions - those working tirelessly to safeguard our cities from environmental ruin and to restore empathy and justice where it has been lost.

EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE 
Our editorial relies strongly on in-depth interviews with community changemakers who prove their influence toward positive lasting change – from addressing social inequality to saving the planet from environmental ruin. Impact.Edition may consider donations to support the coverage of particular topics like this, but our organization maintains full editorial control of the coverage. All of our community partners and major donors receive acknowledgment both online and in print.

Impact.Edition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our tax ID is 92-2750811. To support our operations, coverage of specific topics, and special storytelling programs, we accept gifts, grants, and sponsorships from individuals, organizations, and foundations. Any donation to Impact.Edition are tax-deductible. 
We are committed to transparency in every aspect of funding our organization.

We are proud to serve a truly diverse audience by intentionally connecting groups underrepresented in mainstream media including student startups, grassroots organizations, immigrants-powered ventures, emerging social entrepreneurs and artists to expand their reach.

We provide media coverage and editorial support for social entrepreneurs, changemakers, nonprofit activists to help them share their voice, knowledge, and experience for a better world and broader representation. 

INSPIRE COLLABORATION

 

We  are aimed to drive cross-sectoral collaboration for collective action  through our high stakeholders engagements, community partners’ influence and its social capital, including local artists and culture creators into business-social dialogue.  

MEASURABLE IMPACT

 

We are one of the first media organizations that integrated impact indicators based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals to measure its performance, and we regularly participate in key media industry events and global gatherings of changemakers.

Our Ambassador program is designed to create, connect, and showcase a community of people who inspire and educate others to live a meaningful life.

Yulia is a tenacious, passionate communications professional with over 15 years of experience in journalism, corporate communications, public relations, brand marketing, and content development. Using her skills as a content strategist and producer, Yulia helps mission-driven ventures drive positive social change through inspiring storytelling and community engagement. Her social efforts have resulted in the launch of Impact.Edition, a nonprofit media that amplifies the voices of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Yulia holds an MBA degree from Florida International University and a Ph.D. in journalism from Media Industry Academy.

DOUGLAS MARKOWITZ 

Contributing Editor

Douglas Markowitz is a contributing editor for Impact.Edition with nearly a decade of experience as a journalist focusing on arts and culture. He previously served as culture editor at the Phoenix New Times and his reporting and criticism has been published by The Art Newspaper, Resident Advisor, The Brooklyn Rail, The Miami Herald, and the Miami New Times, where he interned in 2017. In 2023 he was named a finalist for the Knight-Esserman Journalism Award.

KACIE BROWN

Senior Social Impact Writer

Kacie masters the forms of creative expression with words and without. She is a professional musician and writer originally from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. With this unique blend of creative skills and passion for social justice and music, she is eager to amplify the voices of community changemakers. Kacie earned a Bachelor of Music in saxophone performance with a certificate in journalism from Indiana University, where she is currently pursuing a Master of Music as an associate instructor.

Alexandra is a systems thinker, sustainability consultant, and social impact leader committed to driving transformative change through sustainable business practices. With expertise in strategic innovation, systems change leadership, and stakeholder engagement, she empowers organizations to align with the Sustainable Development Goals, fostering resilience and long-term value. Her career spans consulting, social entrepreneurship, and nonprofit collaboration, equipping her with a systems-oriented approach to strategy development and community engagement.

NADIA KIYATKINA

Global Partnerships & Impact Lead

Nadia Kiyatkina brings over 15 years of experience in leading go-to-market strategies and building cross-sector partnerships that drive growth for digital products and content-driven brands across Latin America, the U.S., China, and Europe. Beyond business, Nadia has directed award-winning environmental initiatives. Her urban biodiversity project transformed a neglected site into a community-driven park engaging over 3,000 residents and partners, securing ~$50K in in-kind support, and reaching more than 30 million people through national media. The project was showcased at The Nature of Cities Summit in Paris and set new standards for integrating native plant species into urban landscapes.

LESLIE RAMOS

 Climate Storyteller

Leslie Ramos is a multi-disciplinary artist who tells stories that inspire action, for causes that inspire hope. As the lead creative at BLUE Missions, a clean water charity, she has traveled throughout her career to remote regions in Latin America to document the impacts of the water crisis on families struggling to meet their most basic needs. Through film, writing and photo, she raises awareness about the value of clean water, the urgent need for sustainability, and the commonalities found within the human spirit across geographies. Her most recent work includes an educational docu-series, The Climate Cure, that teaches students about the main causes of climate change and the sustainable solutions that hold the cure.

JOCELYN R. MAHONE
Climate Communications Leader

THE CLEO Institute

Jocelyn brings 12+ years of nonprofit strategy, public engagement, and environmental education experience. She leads storytelling that builds climate literacy, empowers communities, and drives donor engagement. With academic grounding from Yale (Master of Forestry) and Georgetown (BSFS), she offers both analytical rigor and creative empathy.

ANDY CHABASSOL

Founder & CEO

The Ikigai Partnership

Andy has extensive leadership experience in the energy sector (Capgemini, Hewlett-Packard Enterprises), expertise in partnerships/stakeholder engagement, and deep ties to Miami’s climate community. He has led and scaled community initiatives (1,500+ local climate leaders), fundraised over $500K for social causes, and served on multiple nonprofit boards. His strategic and fundraising strength would be a tremendous asset.

Ayleen’s research centers on journalism’s power to advance social justice, representation, and community trust. A former reporter/editor from Venezuela, she equips journalists to work with a social-impact lens.

RiseWorks // Good Miami 

Greg is an award-winning Miami-based environmental and social documentary photographer who works with NGOs and nonprofits. He founded Good Miami Project to provide pro-bono photoshoots for Miami-based nonprofits and changemakers to help further their missions. Images are free for organizations to use. Greg is also on the Board of the Overtown Music Project and Miami Waterkeeper.
