On October 26, Endeavor Miami honored Cesar Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, with its Impact Award.
The 6th Annual Gala convened high-impact entrepreneurs, mentors, and business leaders from South Florida at the Faena Forum, the stunning venue designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Rem Koolhaas.
Cesar Conde was recognized for his extraordinary work to empower the voices of U.S. Hispanic audiences.
Born and raised in Miami, Cesar is of Cuban and Peruvian descent. After graduating from Harvard and Wharton, he did stints at a startup and a bank but was always drawn to TV (he says mass media is power for good when “used responsibly!”). He joined Univision in 2003, became president, and moved to NBC in 2013.
Cesar Conde works tirelessly to bring awareness to the Hispanic community’s access to education through numerous foundations, including the Futuro Program, the “Es El Momento” campaign with Univision. He also was appointed to the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics in 2011.
With the goal to improve the quality of life of disabled children, Conde spearheaded the development of Univision's first-ever Teletón USA event, a 28-hour coast-to-coast televised fundraising event that well exceeded expectations. Over 15 million dollars had been distributed among various children’s hospitals and facilities throughout the U.S.
In 2017, "Time" called Cesar Conde one of the most influential people. In his thank-you speech, Cesar emphasized the importance of corporations to foster an entrepreneurial spirit and promoting ecosystem growth.
Endeavor Miami entrepreneurs demonstrate an outstanding job scaling their companies. Emiliano Abramzon and Felipe Sommer from Nearpod, as well as brothers Richard and Lawrence Lamondin from EcoSystems, each received an “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. These Miami-based founders stand out for their rapid revenue growth and the number of created jobs.
EcoSystems has become a nationwide leader in water and energy conservation, saving over two billion gallons of freshwater by focusing on eco-friendly bathroom upgrades. Nearpod has reached almost 70% of school districts across the country through their ed-tech platform that allows teachers to create, download, and teach interactive lesson plans while engaging students in real-time across all devices in a classroom.
“Entrepreneurship is the driving force of economic development in our community,” said Claudia Durán, Endeavor Miami’s managing director. “It takes leaders in the public and private sectors, universities, and other municipal networks to come together with entrepreneurs to transform societies.”
